It makes it much easier to fold the whole thing in half, because you're not trying to fold the seam allowance into a 1/8 inch fold. Then sew in the ditch with thread which matches your piping.

For the people asking about corners, try this link, she has pictures of how to do the corner:
http://www.52quilts.com/2012/05/tuesday-tutorial-susies-magic-binding.htmlEmilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17582694522237808281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3369260148647737464.post-26596925057224871162013-10-08T22:07:58.621-04:002013-10-08T22:07:58.621-04:00The strip for the piped edge should be cut 1/2&quo...The strip for the piped edge should be cut 1/2" bigger than strip for binding, not 1/4". Otherwise the edges won't match when you turn and press it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12104819012738259222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3369260148647737464.post-30959754212257337262013-07-02T06:19:13.136-04:002013-07-02T06:19:13.136-04:00Thanks for sharing this technique!

I figured and re-figured on my own, and came up with pretty much what is shown here. I used "invisible thread" (Superior polyester monofilament) to stitch in the ditch, and it was almost impossible to see the stitches on the back! Yes, it was hard to make clean corners, but I suspect I'll get better at that - or figure out a "trick" - with more practice. Of the many machine binding techniques I have tried, this is the ONLY one I have been happy with.kayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00806888344075888873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3369260148647737464.post-86995702573288638932012-11-10T15:36:24.267-05:002012-11-10T15:36:24.267-05:00I will definitely have to give this a go.
