Cubic Rhythm

WOOHOO! Another quilt top complete!  This was a fun, fast quilt top called Cubic Rhythm by Debbie Maddy in the Spring 2009 issue of BHG Quilts and More magazine.   I love the big blocks and wide borders.

Great spaces to quilt

The best part is that this quilt was made entirely from my stash!  I think that means I can buy more fabric tomorrow when I meet up with the Finger Lakes Modern Quilt Guild!

Free-Hand Free-Motion Quilty Goodness

Free-motion quilty goodness!  As I have said in a previous post, I'm learning to free-motion quilt.  So I had to have a quilt to start with so I made Hip To Be Square (Busy Bee 2003 pattern). I choose fun bright, busy fabrics to help hide my inevitable blunders, which is not really a bad thing since I LOVE bright colors.

I love greens, teals and other "lakey" colors. This quilt went together quite quickly.  There are 30 squares to practice free-motion patterns, most of which have been or will be inspired by Leah Day's Free-Motion Quilting Project.

This is my first block, serious problems with the bobbin and getting the correct tension. I'm chalking it up to learning curve.

It really helped when I put the correct sized bobbin in the machine.

I'm pretty happy with the outcome so far.

Happy Quilting!

Another Quilty Project

hot, Hot, HOT here! I know I live on the lake, but WOW, upstate NY is not known for 100+ degree days. The lake is like bath water.

Thank God for AC! It allows for summer sewing. Sew, I have started my next quilty project. I have it all cut and have started sewing. I can only give a sneak peek because it may be a present, if it turns out okay.

I hope they like the color combination. It is bright, but what can I say, I like bright!

Quick, fun project!

A friend was making strawberry jam recently, and my husband is a BIG jam fan. So in order to bribe her for a jar of that yummy concoction, I made up a fun little potholder for her...to help hold on to her hot jam pot! ;) (BTW, she just happens to love mermaids!)

Quilty Purse

Seems like yesterday I was complaining it was too cold! WOW, it's hot now! Too hot to play outside, so I guess that leaves playing inside - TIME TO SEW!!!

Sew I did and I made this cute quilty purse!

Pattern is by Lazy Girl - City Tote. Embroidery design is from Urban Threads.

I made the purse almost just like the pattern, but I made the handles longer so that I could put it over my shoulder.

Shhhhh, I think this purse could lead to some birthday and Christmas present ideas.

Quilty Projects

Here are some pictures of some recent quilty projects.

This one I call my Transition quilt. It is my first "modern" quilt. The pattern is from Melissa Cory, embroidered dragonfly pattern is from Urban Threads, and long-arm quilted by Sue Hodge.

The fabric was from my mom's stash that she left me. I think she would like this quilt.
