Four Options, Your Thoughts?

My Elephant quilt is on parade and marching right along. I plan on quilting long panels and then putting them together QAYG method. But first, I need a little help on the design.

Option 1: Column of elephants, slightly off center (this is in all 4 options), 2 panels plain panels on each side.
Option 1

Option 2: Navy and teal stripe added into side panels.
Option 2

Option 3: Adding a thin green stripe, along with the navy and teal.
Option 3

Option 4: Adding just a green stripe
Option 4
So, what options do you like? Thoughts? Opinions? Am I making this quilt too complicated? I can't seem to see the forest for the trees, or should I say the elephants for the big top. ;)

Last week I promised myself that I would include some mending every UFO Sunday, just to force myself to do it. So as promised, mended pants.

I hate mending. This was a VERY SIMPLE job and I messed it up. I sewed a stupid pleat in the crotch. I mean, really??!! Anyway, all fixed. Done mending for this week!

I'm linking up with Leah Day for UFO Sunday at the Free Motion Quilting Project.

  1. Option 3 by far. The extra strips add a lot to the borders and balance with the center. So pretty :)

  2. I guess I'm the oddball here. I prefer the simpler designs, #1 and #2. I zoomed way out so I could see and the pictures at once and those were the most striking to me. Number 3 is nice too, though :)

  3. Option 3 as well... the extra pops of color add so much interest!

  4. I like Options 1 and 3 (all or nothing? - LOL)! LOVE the elephant boxes; this is brilliant!

  5. Yep - #3 it is for me too! I like #2 as well if you want to go a little simpler, but those stripes really set off the design and break up those solid bars of color on either side. Not very fond of #4 at all, the green doesn't have the visual impact of the other options in my opinion. It's going to be a fun quilt!

  6. If you want to do the work, I say #3....

  7. I like number 3 best! And I was inspired by you taking up mending: I've done some mending this weekend as well, but it feels good that it's done.

  8. I really like option 3, the extra stripe gives it a nice pop! I'm really failing on the mending recently, I must follow your example!

  9. Option 3 by far. It is such a cute quilt. I agree with Sarah, it gives it a nice pop.

  10. I'm going for option 3 as well, the other options are too plain.

  11. I love option 3 and it would be fun if you turned the thin green strip into a flange that was 3D. Just a thought. I saw someone do that this weekend at a retreat and it added a really nice touch. Fun quilt! And on the mending, I've done that so many time. At least you got it done. :-)

  13. Redundant - but I really like #3 the best.

  14. Chiming in for the popular option 3 too.

  15. My favorite option is #3 but I also like #4. The elephants are beautiful. I hope you share photos of your quilt when you get it finished. It will be stunning.

  16. I like option 2 but looking at your comments, looks like 3 is the clear winner! I hate mending too. A teacher of mine ( at the school I work at as a custodian...I am done with school, haha) gave me a shirt to fix...and SHE SEWS!! Uggh! I hate even mending my family's clothing. Such a chore. I'd rather make NEW things. I hope the word doesn't get out on that. I always feel like a sucker when I just can't say no. Next time I'm asked, I think I will reply with, " I really hate mending, and hemming. But I hear Don's Cleaners loves to!"

  18. I like options two and three. All of them are lovely, though. Those elephants are wonderful :)

  19. I like option 1 best, but they all look great with the elephants!

  20. I like #3 the best, but I think they all work!

  21. I'm also on the #3 bandwagon. The extra thin strip really balances the colors across the whole quilt.
