The Ithaca Modern Quilt Guild was started last November and our first project was to take a famous painting and cut up a poster of it and distribute it to guild members to recreate it as a quilt block. I have blogged about this in the post here, here and here and I thought I should show you the finished project because it turned out MAGNIFICENT! I couldn't be prouder of my fellow guild members.
The project was led (and pieced) by Terri Fendya. The blocks were made by participating guild members.
These were my two blocks. Can you find them in the quilt?
The quilt was quilted by Kim Michaels and trimmed and bound by Cheryl Moore.
The Ithaca Modern Quilt Guild might be less than a year, but the members already have a very special place in my heart.
I'm linking up with A Quilt Story for Fabric Tuesday and Free Motion by the River for Linky Tuesday to show off this very cool quilt.

Nobody Chopped Their Ears Off!
I'm talking about the IMQG Art Grid Project using Vincent vanGogh's Starry Night. It truly was challenging, but the group came through with some AMAZING work.
Although we are still missing one block (which should be done soon), I LOVE this quilt. I am so proud of the members of my guild.
The plan is to have the top of this quilt sewn together by the next meeting. Our fearless project leader, Terri, has offered to take on that challenge. Great job everyone!
At yesterday's meeting we also had a fantastic guest speaker, Alice Gant. Alice is known for her large reverse applique' banners. Just amazing how she works.
You can read more about her visit at the Ithaca Modern Quilt Guild (IMQG) blog.
I'm so inspired and blessed to be part of this group of awesomely talented quilters!

Another Block for the Starry Night
Last week I got a urgent plea for help from a IMQG member. She was unexpectedly called out of town. She asked if I would do her "Starry Night" block, I said sure. Click here and here to read about our group project.
Not a perfect match, mine is a little darker, hopefully it will still look good next to it's neighbor. We have our meeting today, so hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to show you all of the blocks from the whole group. Now, I have to start getting ready for our meeting, we have a guess speaker today, Alice Gant - Quilt Diva! Yippee Skippee!

Starry Night Update
A couple of weeks ago, I shared a block I did for our quilt guilds Art Grid Project. Quick recap: we took van Gogh's famous Starry Night painting and divided it up into 24 pieces. Each participating guild member got a square to recreate into a quilt block.

AMAZING!
I can't wait to see all of them next month!
