I love spring, with all the fresh growth and soft colors. Unfortunately, my gardens pull me away from my sewing machine. But I was able to finish 4 projects this month and work on a few more.

WIP and QAL Wednesday: Scorched
Wow, how did it get to be Wednesday already??!! With gardening season starting to ramp up, I'm having trouble keeping up. I was able to finish my little wholecloth quilt for Leah Day's QAL Wednesday.
I was able to soak, block and bind it. I did my binding a little different than Leah. I sew the binding on the front, press it to the back, then stitch in the ditch on the front making sure I catch the binding on the back. I think it gives it a cleaner look on the front.
I did have a serious problem though, as I was pressing the binding, it scorched the front of my quilt.
I used the same iron and setting I did when I first pressed and starched the fabric at the start. I used the iron on other fabric afterward and the iron appears to be working just fine. I barely touched the front of the quilt with the iron, I certainly didn't leave it on there from any length of time.
So this leads me directly to my question for Leah. Why did my quilt front scorch so easily? Does it have anything to do with the poly batting? It is my own hand-dyed fabric made from RK Kona Cotton PFD using procion dyes. I've never had it scorch before.
On to my other projects this week, I did finish this little wall hanging (Formerly meant to be a sewing machine cover).
My stats this week are:
In-process: (9)
FLMQG solids challenge crib quilt (2 out of 9 Urban Nine Patch blocks done)
Purple heart wall hanging ( needs borders, backing, quilting and binding)
Expanding Possibilities quilt (basted, now to be quilted)
Storybook quilt # 1 - quilt the border and bind it
Storybook quilt # 2 - All embroidery is done
Quokka Quilts QAYGFMQQAL quilt (18 blocks out of 30 quilted)
Geneva Public Library quilt - join and quilt (maybe make a block or two to even it out)
iPad case (embroidered and started piecing and quilting)
Sew Cal Gal's March FMQ Challenge - Embellishment
New projects in the cue to start: (1)
New Wave quilt (not started)
Finished (2)
Sewing Machine Cover/wall hanging
Whole cloth quilt for QAL Wednesday
I'm linking up with Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday and The Free Motion Quilting Project for QAL Wednesday

WOOHOO! Two Finishes!
I love it when a plan comes together. I love it even better when I finish a quilty project. I finished TWO projects last night!
The first is my wholecloth mini quilt that I was making for Leah Day's QAL Wednesday. Soaked, blocked and bound! Yippee Skippee!
I'm really pleased with how well this came out! I learned so much working on this project.
My second finish was my sewing machine cover, that really didn't work out to well as a sewing machine cover. I decided it was too long and didn't want to cut any of my quilting off, so now it's just a small wall quilt - approx. 25.5" x 36". I'm quite pleased with this little quilt too!
Sew today, I'm linking up with a Quilt Story for Fabric Tuesday and Quilter in the Gap as a finish for the 2nd Quarter Finish-A-Long!
