Bobbins, Birdsnests and Baby Locks
I think my Baby Lock Esante isn't aware that I'm considering trading her in for a Janome Horizon. If she is, she is giving me just cause. How hard should it be to wind a bobbin???
After I finally got a bobbin to wind correctly, then I got birdnests on the backside of the quilting.
Speaking of sewing in the OBX, my husband and I went to the Wright National Park yesterday. They even have sewing machines on display there!
How cool is that??!!

Trip Down to the OBX
My husband and I made it a two day trip down to the Outer Banks, NC. We made several stops. The first stop was to Patchwork Plus the first day. The second day we toured Monticello.
Then, we stopped by Quilting Adventures in Richmond, NICE store!

Patchwork Plus Quilt Shop
On the way to our beach vacation, I can honestly say that I found an AWESOME quilt shop in Dayton, VA, Patchwork Plus. First of all the quilt shop is huge. Second, the owners (Ken and Phyllis) are wonderful. Even though they knew we were just passing through, they let me try some of there machines (I have been wanting to try both the HQ Sweet Sixteen sitdown and the Janome Horizon). They are dealers for both, plus Berninas. Ken was so patient, talking through both machines and what my needs are. He did not try to push the higher price HQ. Both are awesome machines, but I think I really think that the Janome might be a better machine for me at this time. If you ever get a chance to stop, you really should! Or visit them online.
I didn't buy either machine, all I purchased was a quilt halo. But I'll definitely be back, maybe even to purchase a machine!

Yippee, Skippee, Which Way to the Beach!!!
Sewing at the beach, does it get any better??? My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary - our present ourselves is a trip to the Outer Banks, NC. We rented a house, right on the beach, for a week. Oh yes, I'm taking my sewing machine! All packed.
Well Color Me Beachy!

P.S. It just so happens that the only quilt store I could find in the Outer Banks is in the same town we are staying in...how good is that?

My Mama's UFO's
As I have said in previous posts, my mother passed away a year ago and left me her stash, machines, numerous quilts , and embroidery projects. She also left behind numerous UFO's (unfinished objects), some of them quite nice. While this is just a few that I think I will do something with, there are so many more just tucked away.

Helped my Mom lay out this watercolor. It will make a wonderful wall hanging by adding just a couple of borders. |
I have no idea about these blocks, they may have been part of a swap. |
Again, no idea were these came from, most likely a swap. |
Small hand applique, just needs to be quilted |
Table runner, pieced and even baste quilted. I will definitely finish this one. |
Amazing 12" blocks, 18 pieced with another 2 cut. I will definitely do something with these. Only one pieced with sashing, I don't think she liked it! |

The Ladies of Cayuga Lake
When you live on a lake and you pay very close attention, you may just see the ladies of the lake. In my case, it's Cayuga Lake.
Both are Embroidery Library designs, embroidered on some of my hand dyed fabric.
I found some wonderful coordinating fabric at Golden Lane Fabrics.
I think they will make lovely pillows for my or some other deserving person ;) living room.

Color My Mama Quilty!
I just can't help but show you a few more of my mother's lifetime of quilts (above and beyond those I showed you here and here).
Mom made some beautiful big quilts that now are gracing the homes of my brother and I. I miss you Mom!
