WIPped Wednesday!

I have stitched a lot this week, with nothing exciting to show for it. I'll start with my Leah Day homework, Jagged Lines filled with Zippling = Lost Data.
I will tell you that I really think this design would look cool on certain quilts, but zippling for me just isn't committed to muscle memory. I think it's good that we keep coming back to some of these basic FMQ design to practice them.

This week I got the insert for my new table and I LOVE it. What a difference a flat surface makes! It really wasn't that expensive (probably the same as it would cost to make a king sized quilt - at the price of fabric these days).

I did run into some problems this week while stitching on my Expanding Possibilities quilt and I noticed something funny with the thread.
Can you see the curl or twist to it?

I was almost to the end of the spool.
I started getting skipped stitches again. So Leah, could this be the culprit to some of my problems? If you think this is a problem, would it be okay to wind onto bobbins?

I was almost at the end of this row of pointy paisley, when I started getting skipped stitches. I normally don't have problems with FMQ on the edge.

The second row of birds and the entire border of trapped paisley stitched fine, with just 1 or 2 thread breaks.

I got a lot of my second Storybook quilt under way. I have the white border on all of the plain blocks and the backs are all cut. I just need to cut the batting and sandwich. The embroidered blocks still need to be constructed.
Storybook #2 quilt.

Some really cool news this week, my Urban Nine Patch baby quilt made it to the top 5 baby quilts in the Blogger's Quilt Festival. If you haven't voted already, I sure would appreciate your vote. Click here to go to the festival voting page.

  5. GreAT!! (I was so excited to see you on the list, I voted for you!!) You know I often will wind my thread onto bobbins as I get towards the end. It works better on the machine then the kinkiness of it being on the big spool. It works great! Sometime if I have more big spool I will just use the bobbins for practice squares/quitting later. You are doing a fabulous job on this week's project!
