Choosing a binding can sometimes be a bit of a dilemma for me. Fabric seems to change when you only see a small portion of it in the binding. I love using stripes for bindings, but you can't always find just the right one. Well, I'm almost to the point of needing to choose a binding for my Expanding Possibilities quilt. So, which fabric do you like?

These two seem to be my favorite, but I'm open to changing my mind |

I know that there are no right or wrong answers, but sometimes when your stuck it helps to hear what others think. So let me know what you think. What about a
faux piped binding, which colors should I combine? I'm hoping to finish up this quilt before Thanksgiving, YIKES that's next week!!!!
I'm linking up with Leah Day at t
he Free Motion Quilting Project for UFO Sunday! I wonder what everyone else is working on today?

hmmm why not take your two favorites and use the patterned one for a bias binding and use the red for the faux piping? I think it will look great!
ReplyDeleteI tend to pick a binding that "frames", so would pick the red one. Just know the one you pic will be fab!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Pat, but I like them both! I looked back a few posts to find a picture of the quilt again....hmm, you could do red, for sure, but you could also make a binding strip that alternates between these two. That's more work of course, but I think it would look good.
ReplyDeleteI like the red. It echos the border you have on some of the patchwork - and I think it shows off you quilting in a way that a print will not. It's beautiful quilting!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the patterned one would look like at half an inch. Might be great. Might be awful.
ReplyDeleteI really like a surprise in the binding. I'm liking the last one(the medallions) in the top photo. It has all the colors in it. I'd go with the solid for the piping. But that is just me:) What ever you pick, think of it as a frame, not the main attraction;)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Danielle 100%. Love that one for what I can see of the quilt.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the solid...
ReplyDeleteYep, I also like the patterned one. Think that adds more interest. You could then use the solid red for the faux piped binding. I think that would look nice.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the solid. Either one will be beautiful but I don't think the medallion print stands out as well on the back. Could you sew strips of each together along the long edge to make a two sided binding so you would have the print on the front and solid on the back(hopefully that makes sense)?
ReplyDeleteLovely colors!! I think the brown and pink medallion fabric on the far right is my choice. Good luck choosing.
ReplyDeleteMix the two fabrics together. I love a scrappy binding!!
ReplyDeleteThe patterned one - hands down!
