Can You See the Forest for the Trees?

You guessed it, I'm quilting more trees today! I'm really liking how this Tree quilt is turning out. Only six more trees to quilt.

The back
I like how this thread, Aurifil 5004, looks like pencil sketches. I'm planning on using this same thread for the whole quilt. Better order some more today! Who needs to hoard fabric, I much prefer to hoard Aurifil!

In other news, just look what came in the mail yesterday??? The Modern Quilt Guild Michael Miller fabric challenge. Yikes, I have to cut all this up in to fat eighths?  Maybe someone in the IMQG will take pitty on me and offer some help!

I'm linking up today with Free Motion by the River for Linky Tuesday and A Quilt Story for Fabric Tuesday.

  1. Love the trees! I prefer to hoard both Aurifil and fabric hehe!

  2. Your forest is looking great! Want more trees ;)
Oh those fabrics are fabulous. I would help but I'm far away ;)... Enjoy!

  3. They really look great so far!

  4. How are you quilting the trees? Free-motion, long arm? I still feel like a beginner in all of this and I cannot tell by looking. I love the idea of using quilting as a way to 'sketch' as you suggested with the color of your thread. Ooops, I can see right from here in your sidebar that this is FMQ Trees. I have more to read I can see. :) Thanks for writing about your experience.
