Try New Things (TNT) Thursday: Quick Curve Ruler Experiment

Quilt and quilting by Jenny of Sew Kind of Wonderful
Ever since I saw this quilt, I knew I wanted to make a similar one. Jenny from Sew Kind of Wonderful not only created this quilt, but also designed the Quick Curve Ruler to make it. She started selling the rulers right before Christmas and my brother and SIL were kind enough to give it to me as my Christmas present. So today is high time I take it for a spin!

The Quick Curve Ruler by Sew Kind of Wonderful

Rotary cutter fits nicely in the curve.

The ruler has markings to keep things lined up

You can just flip the ruler to cut the other direction.

Pieces cut ready to sew.
There should be a 1/4" point at the top (and bottom)
No pins. I was shocked how easy this went together

1/4" point at the bottom of the seam

OOPS! A little operator error. Obviously I didn't put right sides together!
Press towards the curve.

Voila! Really cool block!

Oh yes, I'm going to be doing some more playing around with this ruler! I love it! Check out some of Jenny's fabulous tutorials and creations with this ruler at Sew Kind of Wonderful!

I'm linking up with the wonderful Melissa at Happy Quilting for Try New Things (TNT) Thursday.

Color Me Quilty!

  1. Wow that is so cool! I tried piecing curves before and hated it, but that looks way easy. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Wow how cool! Looks simple But beautiful and so well done! Great project!

  3. That is awesome!!! I have really wanted to work on curves this year. I will have to look into that ruler :)

  4. I have thought about getting this ruler but am hesitant because I have tried curve cutting rulers before with poor results. The rotary cutter blade did not fit well enough in the groove to actually cut the fabric. In the photo it looks like you are using a standard 45 mm blade to cut your pieces. Is this correct? Did you have any cutting issues?

  5. What a neat new gadgets! Looks like you are having fun with it!

  6. Jenny has so many amazing quilts, doesn't she? Can't wait to see what fun you and that ruler make!
