WIPping out the Pillows

Gosh, it feels sooo good to be able to sit down at my machine and FMQ without any thread burps or birds nests. Yippee Skippee! I so enjoyed stitching out this week's homework, "Lava Paisley" (Leah, just so you know, your husband's name for it was stuck in my head as I stitched it! Please tell him thanks a lot! ;o  )

I was surprised how much I liked the texture of this motif when stitched with matching color thread. The best part is that I was able to use it a UFO/WIP and move it towards completion. I plan on making this into a pillow.
The fabric and buttons I plan to use for the back.
Aren't those buttons cute??!!  I found them in my tin of spare buttons. How lucky am I?

So my question for Leah this week is, If you FMQ with polyester Isacord, why do you piece with cotton Aurifil. Don't get me wrong, I love Aurifil thread, it makes a great seam because it's thin. But, what is the advantage to piecing with cotton?

On to other projects this week. I finished up my Gilty Quilty pillow that I started last week.
Front and back of my Gilt Pillow
And I also, FINALLY, started working on the my Library Quilt.
I was able to sash all of the blocks the kids (and librarians) in the library created. I'm still working on the center blocks. But since I'm doing this project as a QAYG, I can sandwich these blocks and start quilting them.

So all in all it was a pretty good week for sewing.

My stats for the week:
In-process: (6)
Purple heart wall hanging ( needs borders, backing, quilting and binding)
Expanding Possibilities quilt (Continue to quilt)
Storybook quilt # 2 - All embroidery is done
Geneva Public Library quilt - join and quilt (maybe make a block or two to even it out)
Sew Cal Gal's April FMQ Challenge - Need to make into a pillow.
Sew Cal Gal June FMQ Challenge - Need to bind.

New projects: (0)

Finished (1)
Metallic FMQ pillow

  11. Your Lava Paisley looks awesome! Its always fun when our sewing machines starts to co-operate and we never want to stop FMQ.

I always find trouble with FMQ when I go back to piecing and then switch back to FMQ again. It takes a while for the machine to settle down.

Enjoy your smooth ride with your sewing machine.
