  2. I have made one purse, for a friend, and it was a medium bag using three different interfacings! I love medium to large bags for convenience.

  8. I've made several bags. My favourite was made from folded fabric 2 and a half inch squares with a sequin and bead stitched in the centre of each square.

  10. Wow Pat. BEAUTIFUL OMG this one goes beyond lovely... You have put together a delightful purse. Back when I was 13 I made a draw string bag, easy design for my age but it had a secret bottom, where I could stash my puppy love letters. lol... too funny. I love a purse small enough to not overload it but average size that could double as a multiple purpose tote. Yours fits both criteria. Keep up the great work..:) tfblake@comcast.net or message on face book. Teresa

  11. One thing I need in a bag is the ability to push it out of my way whilst dealing with kiddos! So over-the-shoulder bags are my faves. Thanks for the great giveaway, and Happy Holidays!

  12. I haven't made any bags yet, but do purchase them at craft sales. Friend made a large diaper bag for my granddaughter last year. Would love to win your bag!

  14. How adorable! I love the lime green/black combo. I haven't made any purses, just a tote and about eight hundred million zipper pouches (everyone in my family is getting one for christmas this year). My favorite feature in a purse is two large central pockets. I really like not having everything all in one large one. Thanks for the generous giveaway!

  17. i just made a diaper bag for a gift exchange that had tons of pockets on the inside- it was really fun to make, but bags are a lot of work and i can never seem to find the right batting/interfacing.

  18. Lots of pockets, the more the better :)

  19. I made a diaper bag 3 years ago that was cute and quilted and from a store bought pattern. But, I have outgrown it and haven't motivated myself to make a new bag. I just buy them on etsy. I love tote style bags with lots of pockets and a zipper close. rebecca342 at gmail dot com

  20. I'm still working on my first bag and hope to finish it before the new year. :) For me, bags should have LOTS of pockets. I don't think I've ever seen a bag that had enough.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I made some April handbags from the Sew Mama Sew linked tutorial. I like the size, though I don't like that they don't have any sort of closure at the top (like yours does!)

  35. I've only ever made one bag, and it was a lot harder then I thought. To make it ever harder for myself, I used a silk like material for the outside. I finished it for a friend, who loved it, but haven't had the guts to try another one yet. I like big shoulder bags that can be a purse or bookbag.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Absolutely gorgeous colours in your beautiful bag. I have just started making small zippered pouches for Christmas gifts. Thanks for the give away.

    ReplyDelete
  37. My current bag is a kinda slouchy shoulder bag I made from the most fabulous Sesame Street cord fabric :-D I actually got the fabric for free which makes the bag doubly superb! I love pockets so it has a zip pocket on the outside, 2 zip pockets, 2 slip in and 2 pen pockets on the inside, I'm pocket crayzey!!

  42. Hi Pat,

I have made several purses and totes over the years. I like to give them as gifts. My favorite purse to make is about the size of the one that you are giving away. Your "give away" is just beautiful. The winner will be a very lucky lady!

    ReplyDelete
  43. First off, let me just comment that I ADORE this bag! That said, I have attempted to make a large tote with fabric from the Bliss range, but the handles weren't strong enough. So I unpicked it and turned into a smaller zippered scripture tote, but the invisible zipper didn't turn out well (at least the handles are decent!) So I will attempt it once more before giving up on bag making :( Anyway, thanks for the great giveaway!

  44. This bag is very cute! :) I have two young daughters, so when I'm looking for a purse/tote - I prefer a bag that keeps my hands free - I like to make sure the strap is long enough to wear over my shoulder or cross body and that the bag itself is large enough to store my phone, wallet, camera, dipes & wipes for my kiddos, as well as a few toys/snacks to entertain the kids.

  50. Oh my gosh! What an absolutely GORGEOUS bag!!!!
The last tote/purse I made was for my MIL made from different breast cancer fabrics and then machine embroidery was added inside on the pocket and on the outside I embroidered the Dolly Mama breast cancer design and added her monogram. It turned out super cute. We drove to MI to deliver it to her after her reconstructive surgery she had done. For the two previous years she had two mastecomy's because of advanced breast cancer. I filled her purse with all sorts of goodies that were all pink. Shower gel from Ulta Cosmetics was her favorite after she learned there was no bathing or showering for awhile so the scent in the shower gel made her smile when she was forced to taking the 'sink' baths.

  89. I have made a number of hobo bags for my daughters and their friends from a pattern I've had for years. The first one I made for my daughter received so much attention that pretty soon I was making them for my daughter's friends too. The pattern is pretty simple but I think it's the fabric combination that catches people's eye. My daughter says the original purse I made her still gets comments when she uses it.

  90. Cute purse! You had me at vera bradley.

  95. I just made my first purse for myself (the rest have been gifts) and my favorite thing is an unexpected element. The purse I just made is with very loud, modern prints quilted together, but there are two small fabric bows between the rows. It's a fantastic juxtaposition !

    ReplyDelete
  96. I've only made one tote ever. My first tote was a recent sew alone I joined on another blog. It was a scallop tote (layers of pretty scalloped fabric down the front) and I was so proud of it. :) It's not ideal since I should have added extra pockets on the inside, pockets are awesome, but I was so eager to finish it I forgot to add some. :P

    ReplyDelete
  99. I like bags with secure inner pockets, pockets that have snaps or zippers. I just feel more secure knowing that someone would really have to work at getting to my wallet or my keys.

For that same reason, I like long straps on my bags so that I can wear it as a cross-body. It's too easy to grab a bag and pull it right off someone's shoulder.

Goodness I sound paranoid! lol I guess it comes from liking to travel, and doing things to protect myself and my identification.

Thank you for the chance to win the bag. I love that fabric! :)

On that note, I made a stocking for my youngest grandson and used buttons from my husband's grandmother...so those buttons were grandson's great great grandmother's. So cool!

  141. I make lots of bags. I really like your design and fabric. I like to have one inside pocket with a zipper to keep important things safe. I often add a inside snap that you can click onto your phone, etc.

  142. Wonderful purse you've made there. I would really love to win it.
I like my totes big - use them mostly for groceries. Purses should be middle sized.

  143. Really cute purse! I have made several purses and totes...some for myself and some for others. I usually can find some good free tutorials online. Thanks for the giveaway!

  144. I have designed and made a couple of small purses appropriate for when you just need your keys and license/credit cards. Recently I made a "humungus" tote at a guild class. The shoulder strap was attached in such a way that the bag did not lay flat against your hip...so when I got home I redesigned it. Love the fabrics and style of yours. The size is great as its between the tiny and the big ones I have.

  147. I haven't made a purse, but I like purses that have room inside for all my stuff... not nec. huge ones, but ones that have a lot of space and compartments.

  151. I have never made a bag other than simple drawstring bags or totes but I love a bag with pockets so my keys and phone and other small things don't get lost at the bottom of the bag.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  152. I've never made a tote but the most important feature to me is inside pockets!

  153. For me, the bigger the tote the better-- I carry around SO much stuff! And I need lots and lots of pockets!

  155. I always look for smaller/medium sized black bags made from soft materials (I don't like leather) that have short straps (just one please!).

  159. My first purse was made from a pattern my SIL brought back from vacation along with the wooden handles. I have made several variations of the purse over the years including a diaper bag in denim lined with plastic that lasted for 7-8 years before the plastic went. The last few purses have been yarn-knit or crochet-and then fabric lined with lots of pockets. Soft, packable and easy to carry.

  161. What a striking gorgeous bag. I have only made one bag. I just finished knitting a bag which I need to felt and put the finishing touches on. I am excited to see how it turns out. My first ever felt project.

  162. I like the fabrics you've chosen. I like bags with a light colored lining to make it easier to find things within.

  164. I love this bag - it is so my colors! What I love in a bag is a double handle -- one short to make it a handbag and then the option of a long, cross body one as well. If not that -- then I like a generous shoulder bag. A must is an outside pocket to slip keys in. And I also like to have inner pockets for cell phone, etc. on BOTH of the inside walls, not just one! Yeah -- I am picky about my purses!

  165. I have made one bag and really want to make more.. mine was a small hipster type.. ended up being to small for my needs

    Your bag is striking beautiful!

  166. I've only really made one bag - the miranda bag from lazy girl designs - and a couple of simple totes. I like lots of pockets, enclosed seams, and unless it is just a clutch, any tote bag needs to be big enough to carry a binder (I'm a teacher)

    Thanks,
    Sarah

  168. I think I've missed the deadline! I saw your giveaway at lunchtime today but work blocks the audio captchha so I couldn't post a comment :( and it was sew night at quilt club tonight so I've just got back home... too late! But I wanted to comment anyway because I'm also in the Finger Lakes area and will follow your blog as soon as I've posted this comment!
